The Church of England was created because Henry VIII demanded the Pope to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. 

The Pope refused. So Henry declared himself the head of the church in England, annulled his own marriage, executed two of his wives, dissolved the monasteries, seized their wealth for the crown and called it reformation. 

Therefore, it can be said that the Protestant faith was born due to a royal temper tantrum over a woman.And we still act like every denomination was born from pure theological conviction. 

Some of them, like the Church of England were born from politics, power and money.
